Transforming Care: The Nest

We worked in partnership with Kent County Council to develop The Nest as part of the NHS Transforming Care programme.
In 2017 we received a capital grant from the NHS to purchase a property in Ashford, Kent. In 2018 we completed works on the building, transforming it into a 3-bedroom property with en-suite facilities, a sensory room, staff office and sleepover room with facilities for multi-functional activities. The design is sympathetic and robust in design, creating a calm atmosphere for its residents. Each bedroom has been fitted with touch screen interactive screens, in addition to future proofing for the installation of future assitive technology.
The Nest provides a respite service for young adults and children over the age of 14. It’s managed by Kent County Council and gives parents much-needed respite, with stays for up to 12 weeks.
We've integrated some high end features within the build, such as soft impact curved walls and under floor heating.
"This is our first development as part of the Transforming Care funding, which we will build on and encourage others to provide appropriate accommodation for those that challenge their environment." David Holt, Director of Housing and Development
