Sex, relationships and the Care Act
Sex, intimacy, love and relationships are central to our wellbeing, yet they are not always discussed as part of Care Act assessments.
Intimate Lives Matter: Sex, Relationships and the Care Act is an NIHR-funded research project exploring how we can better support social workers to have these conversations.
Working alongside autistic people and people with learning disabilities, we have developed a range of practical resources for social workers, autistic people and people with learning disabilities to help prepare for Care Act assessments and conversations about sex, intimacy and relationships.
The project is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) and is a collaboration between Choice Support and Manchester Metropolitan University and our wider project team. It is jointly led by Dr Monique Huysamen and Dr Claire Bates.
