Sanctuary Worker (bank)
We are looking to recruit bank Sanctuary Workers for our sanctuary by sea service in Southend.
About the roles:
The Sanctuary by Sea provides an out of hours community based “haven” for people with self-defined crisis - offering direct and emotional support for people experiencing mental health difficulties, providing a warm, safe place for those who may otherwise be at risk of harm. Examples include: speaking with sanctuary worker, crisis management, a quiet and warm space.
You will support individuals to use coping techniques, identify their own needs and promote recovery. You will support individuals to address practical issues and provide signposting to other organisations that will support people to improve their mental health and wellbeing.
Hours:
Bank contract available. (zero hours) As a zero-hours position, shifts are offered based on the service needs and may include evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Location:
Southend on Sea, a 5 minute walk from the beach and a 10 minute walk from the train station.
About you:
Previous experience working with individuals experiencing mental ill health or through lived experience, providing de-escalation techniques. You must be empathetic and a good listener as well as a quick thinker and problem solver. You must be passionate about making a difference.
