Keeping you safe
Reporting hate crime in Kent
Being you is not a crime - hate crime is.
The Jigsaw Project was the first such initiative to raise awareness of disability hate crime against autistic people and people with learning disabilities in Kent.
Supported by Kent Police, the aim of Jigsaw is to encourage the reporting of these crimes that largely go unreported and can include: physical attacks, property damage, offensive graffiti, arson, threats and intimidation, abusive calls, harassment and offensive language.
What Jigsaw does
- Raise awareness of disability hate crime, especially against autistic people and people with learning disabilities.
- Deliver training to police and emergency call handlers to improve understanding and response.
- Run workshops for people with disabilities and their support teams to build confidence in reporting hate crimes.
- Train individuals with lived experience to co-deliver awareness sessions.
