CQC Appoints New Chief Inspector of Adult Social and Integrated Care
Chris Badger will lead on CQC's regulation of services which provide care to older people and adults with complex care needs.
Care Quality Commission (CQC) has appointed the fourth of 4 new Chief Inspectors who will lead on regulation and improvement across mental health, hospitals, primary and community care, and adult social care and integrated care.
This marks the regulator’s realignment around sector expertise, replacing the Single Assessment Framework of its previous approach.
As Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care and Integrated Care, Chris Badger will lead on CQC's regulation of services which provide care to older people and adults with complex care needs. He will also oversee CQC’s role in assessing local authorities' provision of adult social care under Part 1 of the Care Act (2014).
He is currently Director of Adult Care Services at Hertfordshire County Council and will be joining CQC in September.
Upon his appointment, Chris Badger said: "I’ve seen first-hand the difference great adult social care can have on people’s lives, and the challenges that adult social care faces in this country. I recognise the important role strong regulation plays in helping to ensure people receive the high level of care they deserve.
I look forward to meeting CQC colleagues and working together to improve both how we work and our role in wider reforms for adult social care."
