Positive Behaviour Practitioner
About the Role
We are looking to recruit a Positive Behaviour Practitioner on a 1-year fixed term contract to cover maternity leave (May 2026 – May 2027). As a PBS Practitioner, you will support the development and delivery of high‑quality services for people who may challenge and/or have autistic spectrum needs. You will help individuals live independent, meaningful lives by designing person‑centred, function‑based support grounded in PBS principles.
You will carry out assessments, develop support and behaviour support plans, and guide staff teams in proactive, active and reactive PBS strategies. The role also includes producing reports, promoting community inclusion, and ensuring communication environments meet individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advice, assessments and recommendations to services.
- Support teams to develop support plans, behaviour support plans and risk assessments.
- Deliver training (PBS, ASC, PROACT‑SCIP).
- Promote community involvement and skill development for individuals.
- Produce case studies and reports for external professionals and commissioners.
- Work with managers on staff development, recruitment and service improvement.
Hours
Full Time, 37.5 hours per week
Location
The post is to cover predominantly in Milton Keynes and Bucks services. Based from home, you will be expected to travel to our services in Milton Keynes (and further afield if required)
About You
You will possess extensive knowledge and experience in the field of learning disabilities, Autism and behaviours that may challenge. You must be skilled in carrying out functional assessment and analysis of behaviours, devising behavioural support plans, and be able to apply this in the development of new and existing services for individuals who may challenge and/or have Autism. You will feel passionate about working with individuals who have complex behavioural support needs and demonstrate a sound values base.
You must be competent in the use of IT including Microsoft Office, you will also be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. You will be an excellent communicator and have experience working with multi-disciplinary teams and individuals outside of your own practice. You will be experienced in devising and delivering training. You will be supported to train to certify to become a PROACT-SCIPr-UK® instructor to deliver this approach to services.
A relevant PBS qualification is essential (IABA, Tizard Centre, Welsh Centre or equivalent) A Masters level qualification is highly desirable. Applicants must also be willing and able to travel to our services and offices (which don’t always have good transport links) therefore you will need to have use of your own vehicle.
