Chris has greater independence

Chris had been living with her mother before she moved into a shared house in Southwark.
The move was a great success and Chris has adjusted very well. She gets on with the two other people she shares with, and is becoming more independent.
Chris has support 24 hours a day and the team help with many aspects of her life. “They help me to get ready. I do some cooking myself, but I need help.”
Support workers give Chris guidance and supervision, so that she can do things as independently as possible. They encourage her to be fully involved in decision making, on a daily basis, as well as during house meetings.
Chris leads an active life. She goes to college on Wednesdays to do drama dance performance and gets a taxi to see her Mum. “I like going shopping with the staff. I go to a day centre to do dance, crafts and exercise. I like bingo the best.”
When she enjoys doing an activity, she’ll often bust into a song and the staff join in too. Arleigh Allen, manager.
