PersonalisationPersonalisation means putting people at the centre of the planning and commissioning of the services they receive. It is a part of an initiative to transform social care, and each local authority has a requirement to make significant progress towards personalisation by April 2011. Some local authorities are making good progress, using individual budgets to put people in control of their support. Other local authorities are still in the early stages of implementing personalisation. Personalisation will be applied across every area of social care. Not just adults with learning disabilities, but older people, people with physical disabilities, and people with mental health needs will all be impacted by this strategy, which is laid out in the Putting People First concordat.
