Brokerage

Brokerage is talking to people to find out what it is they need and want, and helping them to get it. Brokerage is an idea that lots of people are talking about at the moment. Choice Support was one of the first organisations in the country to offer this service, in 1993.

Here are some of the things brokers do:

• Help get the money together for a package of support.

• Help find the right person or organization to provide the support.

• Help people with learning disabilities and their families to plan how they want to live and be supported.

• Help find other organizations who can help, like housing providers who might have the right house for someone.

• Help people with direct payments and individual budgets.

At the moment the broker service is free for families to use.
