When Josh reached 18 he started to attend college for four days a week. Josh, his family and social services decided that for the other weekday they would find support so that Josh could do the things he enjoys. Josh was given some money to buy this support, an individual budget, and along with his family he set about finding a service provider. Choice Support is listed on the local council's providers list, and we, along with two other providers, were invited to attend a meeting at Josh's house with Josh and his family, where they interviewed us and found out what we could offer. Josh chose Choice Support, and we started supporting him for seven hours every Tuesday, with extra time in college holidays, starting in September 2009. Josh helped interview the staff, and he decides what activities he wants to do each Tuesday. He loves to go swimming and bowling, and he likes hiring DVDs from the library. We also support him to attend the local advocacy group, and he has attended a Choice Support service user committee meeting in London. To find out more, watch this DVD. Esme Wilkinson Team Manager
